Trauma Therapy in Avondale and Phoenix

Trauma-informed therapy for adults, teens and children, at a pace you help set. In person or by telehealth, in English and Spanish.

Healing From Trauma, at Your Pace

Trauma can affect emotions, beliefs, relationships, behavior, concentration, sleep, and physical responses. Recovery is personal and may involve safety, supportive relationships, coping skills, processing, meaning-making, and access to appropriate care.

At Confianza Health, trauma-informed care isn't a single technique. It shapes how every session works: safety, trust, collaboration, and your choice about what to talk about and when. You don't have to tell your whole story to begin.

We work with adults, teens and children, and include caregivers when that supports a young person's care.

How Trauma Can Show Up

Trauma can follow a single event, like an accident, an assault or a sudden loss, or build up over time, as with abuse, neglect or violence at home. Either way, people may notice:

  • Unwanted memories, nightmares or feeling on edge
  • Avoiding people, places or reminders
  • Trouble sleeping or concentrating
  • Feeling numb, ashamed, angry or disconnected
  • Strain at home, at school or at work

What Trauma Therapy May Focus On

Care starts with safety and moves at a pace you help set. Along the way, therapy may include:

  • Building trust, safety and coping skills first
  • Understanding how trauma affects the body, thoughts and relationships
  • Working through painful memories when you're ready
  • Easing avoidance, so daily life feels less limited
  • Strengthening relationships, routines and support

Approaches We May Use

Depending on your needs and your clinician's training, trauma care may draw on approaches like these. Which ones fit is talked through during intake.

Do I have to talk about what happened right away?

No. Early sessions usually focus on safety, trust and coping. You decide what to share and when, and your clinician will check in with you about the pace.

Do you offer trauma therapy for children and teens?

Yes. We work with children from birth through age 17, and caregivers are included when clinically appropriate.

Can crime victim compensation help pay for counseling?
