Teen Therapy in Avondale and Phoenix

A place where teens feel heard, with caregivers involved in ways that respect a young person's privacy. In person or by telehealth, in English and Spanish.

Being a Teenager Is a Lot

The teen years bring more independence, more pressure, and feelings that can be hard to put into words. Therapy gives teens a place to be heard without judgment, and to build skills for what they're facing.

Caregivers are included when clinically appropriate, with attention to a young person's privacy, safety and growing independence.

Signs a Teen May Need Support

Every teen has hard weeks. It may be time to reach out if you notice:

  • Pulling away from friends, family or activities
  • Irritability, sadness or worry that doesn't lift
  • Slipping grades or avoiding school
  • Changes in sleep or eating
  • Conflict at home that keeps repeating
  • Risky choices or substance use

What Therapy May Focus On

Goals are set with the teen, not just for them. Therapy may focus on:

  • Managing stress, worry and low mood
  • Self-esteem and identity
  • Friendships, relationships and conflict
  • Coping after trauma or loss
  • Healthy decision-making
  • Communication with family

Approaches We May Use

Depending on a teen's needs and the clinician's training, care may draw on approaches like these.

FAQs

Will my teen's sessions be private?

The clinician explains confidentiality and its limits in clear, age-appropriate language, including what may be shared with caregivers.

My teen doesn't want to go. What can I do?

That's common. It can help to name what you've noticed, listen, and let your teen have a say in things like timing or meeting by telehealth. A first conversation with our team can help too.
