Family Support in Avondale and Phoenix
Encouragement, education and practical help for parents and caregivers.
You Don't Have to Figure It Out Alone
Family support provides encouragement, education, advocacy, resource navigation, and practical assistance to families participating in care. The goal is to strengthen the family's ability to respond to challenges, support treatment goals, and build stability.
When a child or another family member is struggling, the whole family feels it. Family support helps parents and caregivers understand what's happening, have a voice in care, and find steadier ground.

- Parents and caregivers of a child or teen in care
- Families who are new to behavioral health services
- Caregivers who feel stretched thin or alone
- Families juggling schools, courts or other agencies
- Grandparents and other relatives raising children

Your Voice in Care
Parents and caregivers know their family best. Family support helps that knowledge shape care: what's working at home, what isn't, and what matters most to you.
It can also help you understand your loved one's needs and treatment, find your way through the service system, and plan for the future.
Caregivers need care too. If you're running on empty, a planned break can help you keep going.

FAQs
Is family support the same as family therapy?
No. Family therapy is counseling with a clinician, often with several family members together. Family support focuses on encouragement, education, advocacy and practical help for the family. Some families use both.
Is family support for parents, or for the child in care?
For the family. Family support works with parents, caregivers and other family members, so the whole family is better able to handle challenges and support the care plan.
Does AHCCCS cover family support?
AHCCCS covers family support when it's part of a member's service plan, and family members can receive it even if they aren't on AHCCCS themselves. Call us with your plan's name, and we'll help you check what applies to you.
